Description
Clearly the most famous race car in New Zealand in the early 1970's. The PDL mustang was a genuine KK Boss 429 mustang that was imported to NZ by Paul Fahey in late 1970 without its motor and transmission, and was fitted with a 351C HO motor. It was raced by Paul Fahey, Graham and Dave Baker and finally Leo Leonard in whose hands it was dramatically quick. Promoted as 'Electric Blue and 180mph'. I well remember this car at the 1975 Lady Wigram saloon race and I almost cannot believe I was a spectator. Leo pedalled this car to a wonderful 2nd place behind Paul Faheys Cologne capri with the 600hp mustang engine spitting coolant and about to burst.
